Coal seam tensile strength of in Taiyuan Dongshan Coal Mine is tested by hydro-fracturing method, and the applicability of this method on coal seam tensile strength is verified. The obtained K_p value is over 10 times than data of laboratory, which provides the basis for the retainment of waterproof pillar, this parameter enables the width of waterproof pillar greatly shorten.
