Abstract
Based on the analysis of hydrogeological condition and the physical and mechanical properties of upper aquifers and aquicludes in thin bedrock of the coal outcrop area, we determine the criterion of water abundance of upper aquifers. Taking the thin bedrock working faces of Zhaogu No.2 Coal Mine of Henan Energy and Chemical Industry Group as the research backgound, this treatment scheme is conducted by setting proper coal (rock) pillar for different water abundance of coal seam roof and constructing underground roof exploring and dewatering water drillings to comprehensively control mine roof water damage. The results show that the scheme can successfully control the roof water damage in the exposed thin bedrock area and eliminate the threat of water and sand bursting in the mine.
