Mechanism and Practice of High Stiffness and Big Strength Support Mode Controlling Roadway Surrounding Rock in Gob

    • In order to ensure the roadway crossing gob smoothly, overburden failure and stress changes are simulated and analyzed by UDEC software during the coal mining in Pingdingshan No.6 Mine, using pressure theory of Karl Terzaghi to calculate stress of inclined shaft through gob, U-steel support structure is analyzed by mechanics principle, and results showed that the U36 steel support can effectively maintain the integrity of crushed surrounding rock. The intensive supporting strategy is proposed, such as improving early bearing capacity, enhancing stress state of support, and adopting the structural compensation of support. Engineering practice indicates that the support can effectively increase the overall bearing capacity and stability of structure, which ensures the stabilization of roadway through the gob after using the above countermeasures.
