Abstract:
After a long period of dewatering and extraction process, the amount of water produced by coalbed methane production wells becomes small. Oil well pumps are frequently influenced by air lock and dry grinding, which results in shorter pump inspection cycle and higher operation costs. Aimed at these problems, we propose the idea of intermittent dewatering for coalbed methane production wells, and illustrate its mechanism in detail, introduce the approaches to determine the parameters for intermittent dewatering, analyze the principles for selecting wells, and evaluate the development performance of these coalbed methane production wells which the intermittent dewatering technology has been applied based on the field pilots. Field practice shows that intermittent dewatering technology can save a great amount of energy, prolongs pump inspection cycle, enhance the efficiency of equipment operation, and can satisfy the development requirements of coalbed methane wells in middle and later production stage when the water volume and water column are low, and this technology is an effective measure to realize coalbed methane production efficiency.
