3D was used to simulate vertical stress in stope and stress distribution in fault zone in back-filling mining. The results showed that the advanced abutment pressure of non-filling region was much lower than filling region and the filling which could be used to inhibit the release of stress and deformation of surrounding rock controlled the failure and movement of overlying rock effectively. The closer to the fault of roadway, the higher stress peak value of the fault zone. The value reached 56 MPa when the distance was 4 m between roadway and the fault. With the increasing of distance between roadway and fault, the pressure superposition effect between tectonic stress and mining-induced stress was becoming smaller and smaller. Combined with the actual situation of the mine and the experience nearby, the method "stress on-line monitoring - drilling test - large diameter drilling pressure-relief" applied successfully was presented.
