Taking close distance thin seam mining of gob-side entry retaining in Xiangyuan Coal Mine as engineering background, surrounding rock deformation characteristics of gob-side entry retaining are analyzed by the use of numerical simulation software FLAC
3D. Displacement and stress is monitored by arranging monitoring sites in front of open-off cut, surrounding rock deformation and stress distribution under different filling body width and different degrees advance are analyzed. We point out the relationship between the width of the filling body and gob surrounding rock deformation, and the impact of the level of stress on the roof and floor. The mine support methods of basic support, reinforced supporting and filling body support at different locations during gob-side entry retaining period are introduced in detail, finally, a few comments about surrounding rock control in gob-side entry retaining with similar conditions are proposed.
